Nunoland is a story and learning app for children aged 2 to 8. It is made by AppskKuber ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Nunoland app uses, why, where it is kept, who helps us process it, and how you can see or delete it.
1. Who we are
Nunoland is published by AppskKuber, an independent app developer based in India (Rupesh Patel, 5/50/1 Chanakyapuri Colony, Padra, Rewa 486001, Madhya Pradesh, India). We decide how the information described here is used, and we are responsible for it. You can reach us at support@nunoland.com.
2. Children and parents
Nunoland is made for young children, so it is designed so that a parent or guardian provides every piece of personal information. The child's name, age group and look are entered during the grown-ups' setup and in the Parent Zone, which is protected by a Parent PIN the parent creates. Children only tap pictures and big buttons: they cannot type, chat, share, make purchases or leave the app through a link in the children's areas.
If you are not the child's parent or legal guardian, please do not set up Nunoland for them.
3. What we collect and why
| Information | Where it is kept | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Child profile: first name (or nickname), age group (2–3, 4–5 or 6–8) and avatar choices (a ready-made character, or options such as hair and clothes) | On the phone, with a backup in your Nunoland account on our servers | To put your child in their stories, pick games for their age, and restore profiles on a new phone |
| Family and friends' names the parent adds for stories (up to 12) | On the phone | So those names can appear in a story when the parent chooses them |
| Story choices: the heroes, theme, value (such as kindness) and language chosen for a story | Sent to our server when a story is made | To write the story that was asked for |
| Stories: the words, pictures, narration audio and word timings of each story made | Our cloud storage and the phone; a list of saved stories is also backed up to your account | So your child can read and listen again, and so stories come back on a new phone |
| Parent settings and progress: Parent PIN, daily play time, bedtime, stretch breaks, sound and language settings, time played, stories finished, games played and game levels | On the phone only | To run parental controls and the weekly report, and to keep games at the right level |
| Account: a random account ID created automatically; and, only if a parent chooses to create a backup account, either their email address and password, or the Google account they sign in with (its email address, name and profile picture link, as Google provides them) | Firebase Authentication (Google) | To link stories, backups and a plan to your family, and to sign in on another phone |
| Plan: plan type, billing region (India or elsewhere), stories left this month, renewal date, and the purchase reference Google Play gives us | Our servers | To give your family the Family plan you paid for and its monthly story allowance |
| Story reports: the story's ID and title, the reason picked, and any note the parent writes | Our servers | To review stories that were not right and improve the rules our AI follows |
| App health: crash reports (what went wrong in the code, device model, Android version, app version) and basic usage statistics (for example, which screens are opened, with an app-instance ID, device type, language and approximate country) | Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics (Google) | To fix crashes and understand, in aggregate, which parts of the app are used. Never linked to a name, a story or the advertising ID |
| App integrity token from Google Play Integrity | Firebase App Check (Google) | To check that requests to our server come from the real Nunoland app |
Under the EU and UK GDPR, we use this information to provide the service your family asked for (performance of a contract), and for app health and security on the basis of our legitimate interest in a safe, working app. Where the law requires a parent's consent, the parent gives it by setting up the app.
4. What we never collect
- Photos or videos: Nunoland does not ask for camera or photo access.
- Voice: Nunoland never uses the microphone or records anyone.
- Location, contacts, calendars, messages or other apps' data.
- The advertising ID. The app removes the advertising ID permission and turns off ad personalization signals.
- Anything typed by a child. There is no chat, no messaging and no public sharing.
- Payment card details. Google Play handles payment; we only receive a purchase reference.
Nunoland shows no ads of any kind, and we do not use your information for advertising.
5. How AI makes personal stories
When a parent or child asks for a new personal story, our server sends the chosen first names, the age group, the theme, the value and the language to Google Cloud's Vertex AI. Google's Gemini models write the story and draw its pictures, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech narrates it, and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text listens to that generated narration (never a person's voice) so the words can light up as they are read. Avatar choices are used only to describe how the hero looks in the pictures.
Google processes this data for us as a service provider under the Google Cloud terms, which do not allow it to use our data to train its AI models. We do not send email addresses, account IDs, purchase details or device information with a story request.
Our instructions to the AI require gentle themes suited to young children. AI can still make mistakes, so every parent can report a story from the Parent Zone (Report a story) and remove it. The classic tales and the learning games were prepared and checked by us and do not use a child's information.
6. Service providers
We use one group of providers, all run by Google:
- Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, App Check, Crashlytics, Analytics and Remote Config) to run the app's accounts, storage, server code and app health.
- Google Cloud (Vertex AI, Text-to-Speech, Speech-to-Text) to make personal stories.
- Google Play to sell and manage the Family plan subscription.
- Google Sign-In, only when a parent chooses to sign in to the Parent Zone with a Google account.
Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
7. Where information is kept
Our servers, database and cloud storage are in Google Cloud's us-central1 region in the United States. If you live elsewhere, including India, the EU or the UK, your information is transferred there. Google protects these transfers with its data processing terms, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long we keep information
- Profiles, stories, backups and plan records are kept while your family uses Nunoland, until you use Delete all data or ask us to delete them.
- Removing one child in the Parent Zone removes that child's profile, stories, progress and play history from the phone and from the backup; their story files are erased from cloud storage when you delete all data.
- Information on the phone is erased by Delete all data, or when the app is uninstalled.
- Story reports are kept for safety review. When an account is deleted, its reports are kept without the account ID, so they can no longer be linked to your family.
- Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days. Usage statistics are kept by Firebase Analytics and used only in aggregate.
- Purchase records are kept by Google Play under its own policies.
10. Security
Information travels over encrypted connections and is encrypted at rest by Google Cloud. Our database and storage rules stop the app from writing plan or story records directly: only our server code can. Each account can read only its own backups. The Parent Zone is protected by a Parent PIN. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your information ever happened, we would notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
11. Your rights
As a parent or guardian you can, at any time:
- See and correct your child's profile in the Parent Zone.
- Delete everything with Parent Zone → Delete all data, or by emailing us (see Delete your data).
- Stop future collection by deleting your data and uninstalling the app.
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about your family, or ask any question about it, by emailing support@nunoland.com.
We answer within 30 days (45 days for California requests). Depending on where you live, you may also complain to your data protection authority. We will never treat your family differently for using these rights.
12. Children's privacy laws
We designed Nunoland to follow the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU and UK GDPR and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and the Google Play Families Policy. In particular: personal information is provided by the parent, not collected from the child; we collect only what the app needs; there is no behavioural advertising or profiling for marketing; and parents can review and delete everything at any time.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your family's information in an important way, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
